Guru Gobind Stadium, Jalandhar hosted a grand opening of 28th JCT Punjab State Super Football League. Mr.Inder Singh, Arjuna Awardee has graced the occasion and performed the opening ceremony of league by kicking off League. FIFA & India National Anthem ceremony was also performed by Teams, Spectators and organizers. Mr.Puneet Verma, Sr.Vice President has unfurl the Punjab Football Association’s flag on this occasion.
Last year runners-up Punjab Police started its Super League Campaign in fashion by a solitary goal win over arch rivals BSF in an opening match of 28th JCT Punjab State Super Football League 2014-2015. Although BSF dominated first half by making continuous raids over the den of Punjab Police, but skipper ‘s firmed grip over shots taken by BSF team players denied to take lead. BSF was looking so desperate to score in the first 20 minutes and showed its supreme tactics game. BSF striker Pawan Kumar and PH Boy Singh created couple of scoring opportunity by dribbling past Punjab Police defenders, but poor shots taken by BSF striker could not create the charm in BSF campus.
With the passage of time, Punjab Police starting creating chances of scoring through Punjab Police medio Harjinder Singh and young striker Jaswinder Singh and 61st minute saw Punjab Police created a chance to score, when Harpreet left winger created a move which BSF defender Vishal Jsy No.5 could not clear ball, and alert PP striker Jaswinder Singh made no mistake making the ball past Machhiner BSF goalkeeper. After, scoring this goal, Harpreet, Harjinder and Jaswinder again created couple of scoring chances in 64th, 68th & 72 minutes respectively. 85th minutes of the game saw, Punjab Police made a counter attack, Gurtej Singh gave a well measured pass to substitute striker Ranjit Singh which he could not score in an open net. BSF made two three more attacks on Punjab Police goal post in 86th minutes when PH Boy Singh long range free kick was nicely saved by Paramjit Singh skipper of Punjab Police and 88th minute also saw Kamal Kishore missed scoring opportunity when a long range pass was given to him by his team made, which he could not convert into score. In the dying minutes of the game BSF made attempts in search of equalizer, but it was too late to beat Punjab Police. The match ended with 1-0 win of Punjab Police.
On the directions of PFA President & CMD JCT Limited Mr.Samir Thapar, footballs to around 100 kids aged below 10 years were distributed on conclusion of the match.
